I followed along this tutorial about hand painting textures in Mudbox.
For the character, I modeled the base mesh in Maya using the tutorial model as a reference through image planes and sculpted the details on it in Mudbox.
The hole process of modeling, laying out the uv-s, sculpting the details, texturing and final renders took me around 65 hours over a period of 3 weeks, hope you like it!
